Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas hopes that Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will continue to be strong forces on the ATP Tour as he noted that he does not expect the two all-time greats to go away any time soon. The Big Three – Djokovic, Nadal and Roger Federer – have dominated the Grand Slam scene for the past decade and a half. Federer hasn't played much in the last two years due to knee injuries, but Djokovic and Nadal are still going strong. Since 2020, Nadal has won two Grand Slam titles. On the other side, Djokovic has won four Grand Slams since 2020. "Well, now I'd say he's more 'Big Two' than 'Big Three.' And these two, Nadal and Djokovic, are still around here, playing very well. In very good shape apparently," Tsitsipas told ABC, quoted by Sportskeeda. "I don't think they are going to go anytime soon, they are playing well. They are a big obstacle when I have played against them." Tsitsipas has faced Djokovic eight times and has only beaten the Serb twice. Both of Tsitsipas' wins over Djokovic came at the Masters level, but Tsitsipas lost the biggest meeting between the two. Last year, Tsitsipas led Djokovic in straight sets in the French Open final, but the Serb recovered to win in five sets. Against Nadal, Tsitsipas has two wins in nine meetings. "They make the competition very tough," Tsitsipas said. "But we have different weapons with which to fight back and the innovative playstyles that are coming out now can play to our advantage."

Nadal suffered a stress fracture in his rib

Rafael Nadal's comeback after a month-long injury lay-off got off to the best start possible, as the Spaniard defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1, 7-6(4) in the second round of the 2022 Madrid Masters. "When you come back from a period of not playing, it's tough. For me, it's tough too. It's tricky and difficult. I think I have a good capacity to be humble enough to accept that things are not going to be perfect. From there onwards, you have to build your game," Nadal said. "You have to build things from daily work, you have to know and accept that there are going to be errors and just look forward with excitement and determination. I believe that it's as hard for me as for the rest of the players, but it's true that because of some reason during my career I have been able to come back from really complicated moments with good results and with good feelings. If you come back and if you win the first match, then you're able to get your rhythm back again," Nadal said.
