British tennis star Emma Raducanu has announced she has teamed up with the LTA for a US Open trophy tour around Great Britain.
Raducanu, 19, became a Grand Slam champion in a stunning style as she became the first qualifier in tennis history to win a Grand Slam.
Now, Raducanu plans to take her US Open trophy for a tour around the country as she hopes it will inspire youngters around Great Britain to be even more determined in their pursuit of tennis dreams.
“I am really excited to be teaming up with the LTA to take my US Open trophy on a tour of the country,” Raducanu said.
“All the schools we are taking the trophy to have played tennis as part of the LTA Youth Schools programme.
“My hope is that the trophy will inspire them to continue their tennis journey both inside and outside of school.”
Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Major in 44 years
After Raducanu reached the Wimbledon round-of-16 as a wildcard, many thought she definitely had the potential to one day win a Grand Slam.
However, no one expected her to do it in her very next Grand Slam tournament.
"We are excited to be able to take Emma’s 2021 US Open trophy to school children up and down the country," LTA Chief Executive Scott Lloyd said.
“What Emma achieved in New York was incredible and we want to use her success to get more school children playing tennis and to encourage our future tennis stars.”
Meanwhile, Raducanu is coming off a round-of-16 loss in Madrid.
After beating Tereza Martincova and Marta Kostyuk, Raducanu suffered a defeat to Anhelina Kalinina in the last-16.
Swiatek has had a solid clay season so far as previously she reached the Stuttgart quarterfinal before losing to world No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
Next on Raducanu's schedule is Rome.
