Andrey Rublev's season got off to a very positive start. The Russian is, together with Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, the most successful tennis player of 2022 with three tournaments. Although the titles won by Rublev are of a lower caliber than those won by the two Spaniards (Nadal won a slam and a 500, Alcaraz triumphed at the 1000 masters in Miami and won two other 500s in Rio De Janeiro and Barcelona), the successes on concrete at the ATP 250 in Marseille against Auger-Aliassime and at the 500 in Dubai against Vesely, combined with the recent tournament won in the final against world number one Novak Djokovic at his home, in Belgrade, make the Russian one of the most in early season shape. The current number 8 of the world, in an interview with Telegraf, spoke of his success on the number one in the world and praised Djokovic and Rafa Nadal, spending words of praise for both. The 1997 class from Moscow declared that in his opinion Djokovic and Nadal are the best tennis players ever and that the competition to win more slams will be decidedly exciting. "It's very interesting! Those two are the best in history, and now they're fighting for one of them to somehow prevail and be alone on that throne. In my opinion, they are both the best ever."

Nole is one of the greatest player ever

Serbia's Davis Cup captain and former pro Viktor Troicki believes Novak Djokovic is the "best athlete" to have ever emerged from the nation. Troicki also feels Djokovic's immense success has helped tennis grow in the country. “Tennis is really popular," Viktor Troicki said. "It’s one of the most popular sports in Serbia. People love to watch it and love to play it. They’ve really followed tennis since Novak, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, and also Zimonjic in the doubles, became number one in the world. Novak is absolutely the hero and the best athlete ever of Serbia, so people really love and enjoy tennis.” Troicki pointed out how members of the Davis Cup-winning squad in 2010, including the World No. 1, were incredibly galvanized by their triumph, which was reflected in their individual results in 2011. “Novak had an unbelievable year, winning basically everything, Janko Tipsarevic started his best season in 2011," Troicki recounted. "He also reached number eight in the world. Zimonjic was number one that year in doubles and I reached my best ranking, number 12, not so bad! It gave us the confidence to play our best tennis and helped us achieve the best results."
